Interlibrary Loan This service is offered to Adult Studies students for no charge. It provides access to materials that the library does not carry. For example, when searching in one of the databases and locating a useful citation, Nease Library will request the article from another library. Please allow 7-10 business days to receive materials. Materials may be requested through Interlibrary Loan in a couple of ways...
Electronic Databases The Nease Library provides access to many electronic databases. Many of these databases may be accessed remotely. Visit this website for updates on what is available to you. Electronic Databases Available Remotely (Using a South Eastern Massachusetts Public Library Card Number) Please visit the South Eastern Massachusetts Library System website for links to databases available remotely at http://www.semls.org/services/databases/ You must use the barcode from a public library card for access. (The barcode on your ENC ID will not work!) EBSCOhost: Provides access to five different databases, including PsycARTICLES, PsycINFO, ATLA Religion Database, ATLASerials, and Communication & Mass Media Complete. InfoTrac: You may access this collection of databases from the Nease Library's website. Use your ENC remote access information to gain access. Choosing the Best Database(s) for Your Research Often it is difficult to determine which databases will be the most useful when you are researching. Here are some tips to help you decide which databases to try first. The databases that contain the most scholarly resources are InfoTrac's Expanded Academic ASAP and General BusinessFile ASAP, ProQuest, and LexisNexis Academic. You should access each of these databases when you are researching extensively, because they provide access to many different journals. Also, an article that does not appear full text in one database may appear full text in another database! Expanded Academic ASAP is a multi-disciplinary database. It contains citations (and oftentimes full text) to articles from 1980 to the present, and it is updated every day. If you are working on your research project and searched in this database towards the beginning of your research, make sure you search it again later. Since it is updated daily, imagine how many new articles there will be a couple of months later! When you search in this database, the most current articles appear at the top, so you do not have to re-evaluate articles and remember whether or not you already looked at them in the past. |
